Chareos, High Protector of Armengar

Human

Died 1102 AF at the Lions Winter Parliament/1103 on Tamerus

Chareos was a Farseeker like many in his family before him. He was sent to the first Gathering with Amos, Rhyan and Madra but due to a transport circle malfunction he ended up on Amnor just outside the Citadel of Armengar. With no way home the Farseekers made contact with the natives and eventually were brought into their society.

As an accomplished warrior and commander, Chareos soon was given more and more responsibility by the Armengarians who recognised his competence in battle. In time he was declared Protector of Armengar and put in charge of all matters relating to defence of the Citadel.

With the return of the Lions, Chareos ventured forth and met his old friends and allies, many of whom had fallen in the intervening years. He learned of the withdrawal from Albion and the Lions defeat in Avalon. After his return he was made a General by the Lions and passed on the Protectorship of Armengar to Fraoch. The Armengarians, in gratitude for all Chareos had done for them declared Chareos their High Protector, responsible for training the new Protector.

Chareos continued to serve valiantly with the Lions and was made their Warlord. His skill in planning for battle was seen as under his leadership the Lions side swept to victory at the Honour Battle of the Gathering, 1102 AF. Unfortunately at the Winter Parliament, Chareos was ambushed by the Voor and his pattern was assumed killed. His body fled through a transport circle to Orlagnon.

In 1103 on the island of Tamerus, Chareos' body returned with both the patterns of Chareos and a Voor locked inside. Having convinced the Voor to trust the Lions once more, he brought the war between the Lions and the Voor to a close when he negotiated passaged on the Elysium for the discorporate Drow. As one last sacrifice, he allowed himself to be cut down by Cosaint to summon the ship to the next world.

He was the greatest Protector the Armengarians have known for a hundred years. He brought a new hope to the island of Amnor, and through his leadership, brought the Lions and Armengarians together. He accomplished so much, and will be missed.
